The Greene County wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Route 23 in the town of Windham.
Sheriff’s officials said a Buick SUV was heading eastbound on State Route 23 when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck near the intersection of Cross Road.
Two passengers in the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third Buick passenger died at Albany Medical Center. Deputies identified them as:
- Stephanie Hitchcock, age 52, of Windham
- Deborah Hitchcock, age 75, of Windham
- William Hitchcock, age 51, of Windham
The Buick driver, identified as a 76-year-old Windham man, and the Chevrolet driver, a 59-year-old Jewett man, were taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately publicized.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash scene, including the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and the Windham, Hansonville, and Cairo fire departments.
Sheriff’s officials said the cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency at 518-943-3300.
